Hello, Neat post. There's a problem with your site in internet explorer, might test this? IE still is the market chief and a big element of people will leave out your excellent writing because of this problem.

I do appreciate the comments. All of this didn't stop the usual narrative from being played out -- yesterday was a proxy for Title IX evangelizing -- and it probably never will.

But I'm encouraged by the response here and when I put this link on social media from people who support women's sports but know there's a better way to do this.

I'll be writing more soon here and elsewhere along these lines, building off the women's sports series I published last year.

You always pitch for fairness and common sense. I'm impressed that you've kept at it. If anything the issue seems even more polarizing than in the past.

It's hard to see how the academics and attorneys that justify and support their professional reputations and earn their paychecks supporting the victimhood meme will ever back off their positions. I think it's just too hard for them to change particularly since it's worked so well over the past forty decades. I also believe that the Gender Feminist viewpoints of many of these people necessitate ignoring progress in order to continue to push for their ultimate social objectives.

It seems to me this unwillingness to seriously acknowledge progress has had the unfortunate impact of alienating folks that exist in the "middle" on the issue of women's sports. Because the progress has been every bit as obvious as you indicate in your post these people also are starting to "get" the true unreasonableness of their views and it really ends up hurting women's sports.

Thanks for being honest here, Wendy. I, too, find it hard to believe we still need such a day of invitation for our girls. You've said it well "We celebrate it daily by doing what we love the most." That will always be our most compelling invitation. Today is no longer the day to focus on "getting girls in the game" but to re-focus on keeping them there. Unfortunate the timing with the WPS. There's so much to battle out there beyond the other team.
