I'm generally not a fan of trying to assume what's in someone's mind and whether it's part of a conspiracy or something like that.

But I agree that Jere missed the mark here, and you and Bern hit it. She's compelling for many reasons other than being attractive, and her comeback story from having gold in her hand in 2008 is part of it.

If the issue is that we should know more about Olympic champion Dawn Harper, fine. Write about her.

Well played. Given the 2008 Olympic results Jones is a very compelling story which needs to be told. HIt the last hurdle and didn't place but there's no story in 2012? Please.

I find it interesting that they beat her up but all of the politically correct tag lines like Rapino stating that people "want and need" gay athletes to come out speaks volumes as to what is going on.

The real reason she's getting crushed by this guy is that her traditional views of sexuality / virginity aren't "cool enough" for those trying to control the conversation.

Also if any of Wendy's regular readers haven't already bought her book you should get it done and then post a review on Amazon. It's a great and your support will be a small effort given her commitment to sports over the years.
